Hotels for Habitats operates under a Charitable Trust Deed
Purposes
The purposes and aims of the Trust are to apply both the capital and income of the Trust fund to advance the retention and preservation of pristine and untouched wilderness areas and unmodified terrestrial ecosystems around the world for the benefit of current and future generations and supporting organisations engaged in planting trees and restoring natural environments by: JPW-274358-1-23-V2 Page 2
(a) providing financial assistance to organisations within New Zealand and around the world dedicated to the retention and preservation of pristine and untouched wilderness areas and unmodified ecosystems by either scientific research, or working groups, or monitoring systems, or protective measures, or restoration projects, or similar; and
(b) making donations to organisations engaged in the planting of trees and restoring natural environments throughout the world; and
(c) promoting awareness and understanding of environmental issues relating to terrestrial ecosystems.
Income, Benefit or Advantage to be Applied to Purposes
Application
Any income, benefit or advantage shall be applied to the purposes of the Trust.
Influence
No member of the Trust or person associated with a member of the Trust shall participate in, or materially influence, any decision made by the Trust in respect of the payment to or on behalf of that member or associated person of any income, benefit or advantage whatsoever, except where that income, benefit or advantage is derived from:
(a) professional services to the Trust rendered in the course of business charged at no greater rate than current market rates; or
(b) interest on money lent at no greater rate than current market rates
